Sikkim is Magnificent

At an elevation of 2134m, 'Dorje Ling', or location of the Thunderbolt, offers stunning views of snow-capped Himalayan peaks, the highest of which is Kanchendzonga. Often dubbed the "Queen of the Hills," it retains its allure with its little waterfalls, small towns, and narrow gauge railway track. Today, early in the morning, visit Tiger Hill to witness a magnificent sunrise and Himalayan peaks such as Kanchandzonga and Mount Everest. The central business district is characterised by massive government buildings adorned with traditional Buddhist iconography. Gangtok also serves as a stopover for those heading to North Sikkim. Gangtok, surrounded by monasteries and orchids, is a true traveller's paradise. Proceed to Gangtok for a half-day sightseeing tour, stopping at the Flower Show, Do Drul Chorten, Institute of Tibetology (closed Sunday), Cottage Industry (closed Sunday), and Bakthang Falls. Today Proceed on a full-day trip to Changu Lake, 35 kilometres from Gangtok and situated at an elevation of 12,400 feet. The lake's waters are supplied by the melting snows of the neighbouring mountains. According to legend, lamas could predict the future by observing the hue of the lake's waters.
