Among the stops on this tour are the gorgeous Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls. What makes Seljalandsfoss so famous and interesting is that you can walk behind it. Skógafoss, another famous Icelandic waterfall, is the starting point of the Fimmvörðuháls walk over to Þórsmörk. We will also stop at Reynisfjara black sand beach, with the Reynisdrangar rock formations and columnar basalt. Additionally, we stop by Sólheimajökull glacier and walk up to a small lake that has formed in front of the retreating glacier. Overnight in Vik.

Continue east from Klaustur over Skeidarársandur, vast tracts of black sandy desert washed down by numerous torrential glacial rivers. Stop at Skaftafell National Park, an oasis wedged between glacier and sand. Its natural beauty is a result of unusually favorable weather conditions and the interaction of ice and fire. An interesting hiking trail takes you to Svartifoss, one of Iceland’s most picturesque waterfall, framed in by beautiful basalt columns that surround it. Overnight in Hofn.
