Splendour of the North

Upon arrival in Auckland, 'The City of Sails,' seat in coach clients will be welcomed and personally taken to their accommodation by our local agent. Clients who self-drive will pick up their rental car at the airport and drive to their hotel. Overnight in an Auckland hotel.

This morning, journey south to Waitomo, where a guided tour of the world-famous Waitomo Glowworm Caves will take place. Continue through the Mamaku Ranges to reach Rotorua, the 'Thermal City.' Overnight in a Rotorua hotel. (B)

Visit Te Puia Thermal Reserve today to observe bubbling mudpools and roaring geysers. After that, visit Rainbow Springs to observe New Zealand's trout, birds, and animals before heading to the Agrodome for a New Zealand farm show involving sheep dog demonstrations, cow milking, and an introduction to our sheep industry's stars. Afternoons are free. Enjoy a genuine Maori Hangi (feast) and concert this evening. Overnight in a Rotorua hotel. (A, B)

Continue on the wooded road from Rotorua to Taupo. Lake Taupo is almost the size of Singapore and is a favourite vacation destination for New Zealand residents. Continue down the East Coast, passing through rocky mountain ranges and well-cultivated farmland, until you reach the 'Art Deco' city of Napier. Overnight in a Napier hotel. (B)

Day is free or you can enjoy one of our Optional activities.  Optional: Explore Napier by taking an Art Deco walking tour or a vintage automobile sightseeing trip. This afternoon, take a wine tour that includes visits to and samples at three local vineyards. Overnight in a Napier hotel. (B)

Today, travel via the Manawatu Gorge to Palmerston North, then along the Kapiti Coast to the 'Capital City' of Wellington. (B)
