Norway’s Fjords & Arctic Svalbard
Tour Plan
On arrival in Oslo, transfer to Bergen (a beautiful city on Norway’s west coast and known to be the gateway to the fjords). Enjoy a relaxed evening and overnight at Bergen.
This Hanseatic town offers ample walking alleys good enough to explore on foot. Stroll the Bryggen Wharf before embarking the ship. Enjoy overnight on board.
Travel through little-visited Nordfjord and transfer to see Olden Valley’s jagged mountains and turquoise lake. You may hike through deep glacially-carved valleys to Briksdal Glacier. Return to the ship for overnight onboard.
Explore a variety of landing possibilities among rugged mountainous islands and steep-walled fjords. Paddle a kayak in a deep fjord surrounded by waterfalls or hike with naturalists. Discover the steep granite cliffs of Melfjord on a narrow channel. Return on board for overnight stay.
Travel by zodiac to view Atlantic puffins, razorbills and guillemots. Go ashore at the fishing village of Aa. Later, cruise into the dramatic Trollfjord, one of the famous fjords in Norway. Enjoy overnight on board.
This morning enter the long fjord of Tysfjorden, where only a few small villages cling to the rocky shores. Explore the area’s numerous channels by kayak or on foot. Spend overnight on board.
Tromso is the ‘Gateway to the Arctic’. Visit the Arctic Cathedral and the Polar Museum. Return on board for overnight stay.
Having spent a full week in coastal Norway, set out towards the High Arctic. Before heading for Bear Island into the north, take advantage of the weather and wildlife opportunities. Relax overnight on board.
Mist-shrouded Bear Island is populated by thousands of fulmars, kittiwakes, guillemots and gulls. Spend overnight on board.
Look out for walruses, seals, reindeer, arctic foxes and polar bears living among deep fjords, mountains and massive ice sheets. The flexible itinerary allows you to take advantage of the best ice and weather conditions. Shore walks and kayaking adventures get you to witness rugged landscapes and passing icebergs. Return on board for overnight stay.
Today, disembark in Longyearbyen and visit the Svalbard Art Gallery and Museum. Then proceed to the airport for a flight to Oslo. Spend overnight in Oslo.
Extend your stay in Oslo or transfer to the airport for your flight back home.
