Arrival in Mexico City. Your local guide will transport you to your accommodation. The rest of the day is free. In Mexico, spend the night in a hotel.
Today, right after breakfast. You will be moved in a picturesque passing past the front of various facades of exquisite historical downtown buildings, such as the Palace of Fine Arts and the House of Tile, before arriving in the heart of Mexico, with his imposing Arms Square "El Zócalo." You will enter the National Palace to appreciate Diego Rivera's gigantic mural on the main stairway, a genuine synthesis of Mexican history from the perspective of the great Mexican painter. The Metropolitan Cathedral, the biggest in Latin America and home to the Archdiocese of Mexico, will welcome us by traversing its Ships and Altars. We're leaving to continue our panoramic tour of more stunning facades. We arrived at the Chapultepec area woodland to get entry to the world-renowned National Anthropology Museum, where the tour and the Aztec chamber would provide a thorough perspective of the ancient Aztec capital of Tenochtitlan and its magnificence. After breakfast, travel to Teotihuacan (Prehispanic) and the Shrine of Guadalupe (Contemporary), both of which highlight the predominant religious evolution of the Mexican people. We'll start with a visit to the pre-Hispanic archaeological site of Tlatelolco, popularly known as the "Plaza de las Tres Culturas," and its colonial cathedral of Santiago. You will be admitted to the intriguing archaeological site, where you will explore the temples of "Quetlzalpapalotl" (bird - butterfly) and "Feathered Shells," as well as the whole Pyramid of the Moon. Finally, the spectacular Pyramid of the Sun concludes the tour. Following that, you will be delighted to visit the Shrine of Guadalupe, Mexico's greatest religious shrine, where the San Juan Diego's Tilma is kept, together with Mexico's most venerated image, the Virgin of Guadalupe, "Matron Saint of America." After breakfast, go to the airport to catch your flight to Oaxaca. Arrive in Oaxaca and take a taxi to your accommodation. Overnight in Oaxaca at a hotel. (B)
Today, right after breakfast. Visit Monte Alban, an ancient site erected on top of a mountain, in the morning. There are remnants of Olmec, Zapotec, and Mixtec civilization, as well as Grand Plaza, the Observatory, and the Steele of Dancers. Afternoon excursion to Mitla, the city of death. This is a lovely sight, all in Greek, with a specific connotation to death. Visit the tallest Tule tree in North America, as well as the distinctive Oaxaca city, museum, Santo Domingo cathedral, and Golden Museum. Go back to Oaxaca. Overnight in Oaxaca at a hotel.
Today, right after breakfast. Then take a taxi to the airport for your flight to Oaxaca. Arrival in San Cristobal de las Casas and transported to the Rio Grijalba dock Cahiare. We'll board a boat here and travel down the river into Sumidero Canyon. Arrive in San Cristobal de las Casas and visit the mudejar fountain. Overnight at San Cristobal De Las Casas at a hotel. (B)
Today, right after breakfast. After that, travel to the old settlements of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantan. These little settlements are particularly traditional, with many inhabitants still adhering to historic religious customs within Catholic churches. People sit on the pine needle covered floor of Chamula's main church, where a regular Christian mass hasn't been conducted in 40 years, and receive treatments from local shamans amid clouds of burning incense. Transfer to Palenque after breakfast, stopping at the Agua Azul and Misolha Waterfalls along the way. Agua Azul is one of those spots where you can truly feel the enchantment. It's as if the Caribbean's azure waters had tunnelled through the earth and broken forth in cascades among the rainforest. We will stop here after descending from Tonina to explore and swim among this stunning sequence of waterfalls. Overnight at Palenque at a hotel. (B, L )
Today, right after breakfast. We will visit the ancient site Palenque, which is regarded as one of the most magnificent in all of Mexico. Palenque, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is regarded as a global treasure. Many of the ancient monuments that rise out of the lush rainforest on many terraces set against the mountains were erected by the great King PPascalin in the sixth and seventh centuries AD. Transfer to Villahermosa after lunch for your flight to Merida. Arrival in Merda, follow by a transport to the hotel. Overnight in Merida at a hotel. (B, L)
Today, after breakfast, take a full-day tour of the archaeological sites of Uxmal and Kabah. First, we'll go to the Uxmal ruins, which are one of the most well-known ancient Mayan towns. "Uxmal" means "three times constructed" in Maya. The guide will describe the Puuc architectural style of structures like the Nun's Quadrangle, the Ball Court, the Turtle House, and the Governor Palace in detail here. This Puuc style is exceedingly ornamental and intricate. It gets its name from the Puuc hills in the area. Governor Pauline is Uxmal's most well-known edifice since itan the outstanding specimen of the Pustyleyle. It was regarded as Mesoamerica's most magnificent structure. Following our Uxmal tour, we will visit the archaeological site of Kabah, a Mayan name that means "lord of a powerful hand." Macbethbeh," or white road used for ceremonial purposes, connects Kabah to Uxmal. Kabah is one of the Puuc Route's stations, and there are several monuments here with carved masks of the go God Chaac, the Mayans' main rain god. Due to the lack of cenotes in this area, Mayans had to constcons thrownthrownterns and pray to their God for rain. Your final stop before returning to Merida will be at a restaurant for a delectable regional supper. Overnight at Marida at a hotel. (B, L)
Today, right after breakfast. You will travel southeast of Merida to the remains of Chichen Itza, an ancient Mayan metropolis. Chichen Itza derives its name from the Mayan terms Chi (mouth), Chen (hole or well), and Itza (Itza people). These Mayan phrases signify "at the mouth of the Well of the Itza people." The tour will be guided by an expert and qualified guide who will describe in detail the exquisite architecture of the structures as well as the Mayan way of life. To arrive at the Sacred Cenote, cross a "Sac beh," or white path used for ceremonial purposes. Chaac, the Mayan deity of rain, is worshipped here. The Mayans also thought this cenote to be a gateway to the underworld. In Chichen Itza, you will also see the Temple of the Thousand Columns, the Observatory, the Ball Court, and other significant structures. Then, after a lengthy tour around the magnificent Mayan metropolis and new wonder of the world, you will dine on delectable Yucatecan cuisine. We will transport you to Cancun after lunch. Upon arrival, check into the hotel. Overnight in Cancun at a hotel. (B, L)
