Day 2: Gwalior - Orchha (about 125 kilometres / 2 hours and 45 minutes)

Today, make your way to Orchha. En way, stop at the Phool Bagh, DinmanHerdaul's Palace, Sunder Mahal, and the Orchha Cenotaph. Check-in at the hotel in Orchha upon arrival. Later, see Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo's Jahangir Mahal, Raj Mahal, and Chaturbhuj temple. Orchha's fort complex, which is entered over a multi-arched bridge, is comprised of three magnificent palaces arranged in an open square. The earliest of these is the Jahangir Mahal, which was constructed in the 17th century by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo to commemorate Emperor Jahangir's visit to the city. Fragile chhatries and elaborate trellis work increase the aesthetic richness impact. The Raj Mahal was constructed by Madhukar Shah, Bir Singh Ju Deo's religious forefather. The Chaturbhuj Temple, located just across from the Raja Mahal, is one of the city's most popular attractions. Dedicated to the four-armed god Chaturbhuj (Chaturbhuj literally translates as "four-armed"), the temple contains an abundance of natural light and space, which is unique for a Hindu temple. Overnight in an Orchha hotel. (B)

Day 3 :Orchha - Khajuraho (about 173 kilometres / 3 hours 30 minutes)

Today, make your way to Khajuraho. Check-in at the hotel in Khajuraho upon arrival. In the afternoon, proceed on a temple tour, stopping at the Lord Shiva-dedicated Kandariya Mahadeo Temple. Other noteworthy temples include Chausath Yogini, Chitragupta, and others, each with its own unique history and presiding deity. The most magnificent and biggest temple in Khajuraho, Kandariya Mahadev Temple was constructed between 1025 and 1050 AD. The temple, a typical sandstone construction, is dedicated to Shiva and has a linga in the GarbhaGriha's centre. The intricately etched main shrine is adorned with over 800 figures, the majority of which are three feet high. The most magnificent and famous temple also has some of the most fabulously intricate frescoes, evoking the artistic grandeur of bygone eras. The Chausath Yogini temple is the group's earliest surviving structure (900 A.D.). It is the group's lone granite temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. Only 35 of the original 65 cells remain, and there is no image of Kali, which is unsurprising given that this is the group's earliest surviving shrine, dating to 900 AD. The Devi Jagdambe temple is another Kali temple that was initially devoted to Lord Vishnu. Chitragupta Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Surya. It faces east toward the rising sun. This temple, which dates all the way back to the 11th century, houses an astounding 5-foot-tall figure of Lord Surya standing atop a chariot drawn by seven horses. Chitragupta Temple's magnificently carved walls portray sensual and full-figured sura-sundaris, sexual couples, and images of Lord Vishnu in the 11 headed forms, really present a rare feast for the observer. Overnight in a Khajuraho hotel. (B)
