Alice Come To Life With Ayers Rock (ADD ON PACKAGES)

MUST ARRIVE BY 1145HOURS AT THE AURORA SPRINGS AIRPORT AND RECEIVE A SIC TRANSFER TO THE CITY HOTEL FOR CHECK-IN. This afternoon, take the SIC's half-day A Town Like Alice tour, which departs at 1330 hrs (AATK A3). Take a tour of 'The Alice's' sites, including The School of the Air. We discover how radio is used to teach children who are unable to attend school, and we may get the opportunity to listen to and see actual classes in action on the air. Stop at the historic Telegraph Station, which represents the original location of Alice Springs' earliest European settlement. Visit the Royal Flying Doctors Service to see how medical aid is delivered to those living in remote areas of the 'outback'. We also stop at the Alice Springs Reptile Centre, where you can get up close and possibly touch some of Central Australia's semi-arid desert's lizards and snakes, including the Perentie Lizard and the Thorny Devil. From the summit of Anzac Hill, the tour concludes with a panoramic view of Alice Springs and the MacDonnell Ranges. Overnight in an Alice Springs hotel.

This morning, enjoy the Full Day SIC West MacDonald Ranges Trip (AATK A8 - this tour requires some walking in tough terrain). The first stop is Angkerle (Standley Chasm). Take a stroll along the gravel stream, which is fed by springs. Attract a diverse range of wildlife and bird species. After your stroll, relax with a cup of morning tea. Following that comes Ellery Creek Big Hole, a magnificent watercourse that winds its way through a valley in the hills. Visit the Ochre Pits to view the natural ochres embedded in the rock face that have given indigenous people with materials for thousands of years. The rugged scenery of Ormiston Gorge is complemented by a near-permanent waterhole that attracts a variety of water birds and fish. At Glen Helen Gorge, enjoy a Ploughman's Lunch. Simpson Gap, one of the most well-known places in the mountains, is the final stop. As you make your way across the gap to the waterhole, keep a look out for the elusive black-footed rock wallabies hidden among the rocks. Overnight in an Alice Springs motel. (B)

Check-out. This morning, embark on a half-day SIC transfer to Ayers Rock Resort, in route to tour the area (AATK A6). Pass through the MacDonald and James Ranges on your way south. Your knowledgeable Driver Guide will give in-depth comments on your surroundings. Visit a camel farm and have a brief camel ride (own expense). Later in the day, you'll have the option of purchasing a small lunch at Mount Ebenezer. Admire the beautiful Atila (Mt. Conner) on your way to Ayers Rock Resort. Later in the afternoon, check-in at Ayers Rock Resort. Half-day SIC Uluru Sunset Tour (AATK # Y11 - 3 Day National Park Fee included).
