A full-day excursion that allows you to explore the finest of this gorgeous island. There are sites to visit on both the Atlantic and Caribbean sides of the island. Take in some of the Caribbean's most spectacular vistas, absorb in the ambience, and enjoy unspoiled Tobago at its best, from lush green jungle to stunning isolated beaches, adrenaline waterfalls, and historical buildings. Lunch is provided at Jemma's Treehouse, the island's most famous restaurant. (On some dates, the restaurant may be replaced with something comparable if it is closed.) Here you may try traditional Tobagan recipes that make use of the fruits and vegetables you saw on your island tour. Remember to bring your swimming gear and cool down at the magnificent Argyle Waterfall. Overnight in Tobago at a hotel. (B)
We're going to get an early start today so that we can see the Rainforest and its residents at their finest. We travel down the Caribbean coast, stopping at Castara Bay with its traditional clay oven bakery (open only on certain days), Englishman's Bay, and many other gorgeous sites along the route. We pause to sample island fruits and vegetables before heading into the Western Hemisphere's oldest protected rainforest. We may stroll the Main Ridge route to see a wonderful ecology in action. There is a plethora of vegetation and animals, as well as superb birdsong and the opportunity to see many different bird species. On your walk to the gold and silver falls, look for land crabs, snakes, iguanas, and other creatures. Be on the lookout for the White-tailed Sabrewing Hummingbird, as well as a variety of other species, including our national bird, the Rufous Vented Chachalacha or Cocrico. On the way back, we stop for lunch in Castara. Overnight in Tobago at a hotel. (B)
