Oman Costal Adventure

Arrival in Muscat, you will be transferred to your hotel (B). Overnight in Muscat

Breakfast at the hotel. Half day Muscat City Tour. After breakfast we will meet in the hotel
lobby and proceed for a half day tour of Muscat. The tour includes a visit to the Sultan
Qaboos Grand Mosque where you can see the second largest carpet in the world. Later we
visit the modern Muscat as well as parts of old Muscat, visit of Bait Zubair museum; a
private museum with a rare historic collection. Stops at Al-Alam palace, 16th century-built
Mirani and Jalali forts and the famous Muttrah Souq. Return back to hotel by 2 PM.
Optional: In the evening we can go outside to have dinner in a traditional

8.00 am: After breakfast, we assemble at the hotel lobby and depart to Nakhal. We drive to
Barka Fish market and watch the fishermen bring in boatloads of glistening fish in front of
the market from sea side. Late we drive through the date palms to the village of Nakhl and
short photo stop at the Nakhl Fort. The old village of Nakhl which nestles below the fort
gradually leads to the famous warm Springs of Nakhl situated at the end of an attractive
Oasis. Relax by the side of the shallow waters of the springs surrounded by lush green date
plantations and steep mountain peaks.
Continue down Wadi Bani Auf is one of the Arabia’s greatest 4WD adventures and includes a
visit to the village of Bilad Sait, a remote fortress village.
Later Drive to Jabel Shams and Jabel Shams is the highest peak in the Gulf region. Enjoy
breath-taking view of the deep canyon. Overnight in Jabel Shams.

0900 Hrs. Breakfast at hotel and drive to Bahla.
We first visit Misfah, a pretty village with stone houses, precariously clinging to the side of a
huge mountain cliff. The village is laden with date, lemon and banana groves.
We visit the village of Al Hamra, famous for their old multi-storied mud houses surrounded
by a vast expanse of lush green date plantations.
Stop at Hasat Bin Sult. There are a series of petroglyphs carved onto a giant rock, located on
the way between Al Hamra and Jebel Shams. One can spot 3,000-year-old carvings of four
life-size human figures on its main face.

We then visit the recently restored Bahla Fort, which has been declared a World Heritage
site by UNESCO. Overnight in Nizwa.

8.30 Check out and Drive to Wahiba Sands
First, we visa Sinaw Souq. Sinaw Souq features different areas for women and men, which
are designated by a sign, but the action often spills out on to the streets, with sellers who
missed a prime spot under the covered area opting to set up shop and display their wares
along the pavement.
Ibra is one of the oldest cities in Oman and was once a center of trade, religion, education
and art. The city acquired its importance as an important meeting point at the base of the
Ash Sharqiya. Ibra is home of the huge Al-Harthy tribe, one of the biggest and most powerful
tribes in Oman. The Al-Maskary tribe and the Al-Riyamy tribe are also both very prevalent in
Ibra.
Desert Safari over golden sand dunes and visit of a Bedouin family who live here amongst
the woodland on the fringes of the sands.

9 am depart to Sur.
We will visit Wadi Bani Khalid, this is considered one of the most beautiful wadi’s in Oman.
The drive to Wadi Bani Khalid is through the Eastern Hajar Mountains, which offers a
panoramic view of landscape below. We pass many pretty villages embedded in the
mountains. Here the road winds down to the wadi alongside a large, shallow pool fringed
with vegetation and ends at a village. We park our vehicles at this point and continue on a
short trek to the deep blue pools of the wadi. Enjoy a swim in this glorious grace of nature.
Further drive to Sur, famous cities in the Persian Gulf in building wooden ships. Its historical
location gives it the hand to monitor the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean. Many ships
have been built in this city, like the sambuk and ghanjah they formerly went as far as China,
India, Zanzibar, Iraq and many other countries. These vessels were also used in pearl fishing.
Today the city has retained its reputation as a major Dhow-building town, the very same
vessels that were used for trade two centuries previously. Visit a Dhow Factory.

Departing from Ras Al Hadd this morning, you'll spend the next couple of days enjoying the
natural bounties of Oman's largest island. An important breeding ground for rare
loggerhead sea turtles, it lies some 19 kilometers off the Omani coast and is reached by way
of a regular ferry service that utilizes old converted tank landing craft to make the hour and
a half crossing.

Today provides an ideal opportunity to make the most of Oman's rugged coastline. The long
drive north to Ras Madrakah provides an ample array of viewpoints and photo
opportunities to enjoy as you pass through a picturesque collection of fishing villages,
beaches and wadis en route to tonight's camp [Igloo tent].

THE EMPTY QUARTER Leaving behind the coast and the
beautiful limestone canyons of Wadi Shwaymiah. You'll head to the vast wilderness of the
Empty Quarter this morning and head back towards the journey filled with pockets of color
and calm, as Oman's dazzling wadis provide an elegant contrast against the harsh backdrop
of the desert landscape. Overnight in Empty Quarter Ecolodge.

Drive in 4WD vehicle towards the vast and empty landscapes of the Rub Al Khali.
Encompassing some 250,000 square miles of waterless desert, the Empty Quarter cover
much of the southern half of the Arabian Peninsula. Heartland of the nomadic Bedouin,
made famous by Wilfred Thesiger in his book 'Arabian Sands', these haunting landscapes
provide the dramatic setting for a night's wild camping beneath the desert sky. Overnight in

Today's tour begins with a visit to the old fishing village of Taqah, famed for its dried
sardines and traditional old Dhofari houses. Continuing on to the ancient ruins of
Sumharam (Khor Rohri), you'll then explore the easternmost outpost of the old Hadramawt
Kingdom before taking a relaxing stroll through Wadi Darbat. Driving up into the Qara

Mountains you'll enjoy some stunning views across western Salalah, before heading to the
white sands of Mughsail Beach and the frankincense groves that lie close to the country's
western border. Overnight stay at a hotel in Salalah.

Visit the “Museum of the Frankincense Land”. Opened in July 2007 at Al Balid
Archaeological Park, a UNESCO heritage site located in Salalah, the Frankincense Land
Museum is the latest addition to Oman’s heritage and cultural scene. It houses two main
halls, namely the History Hall, depicting the geography, history of the ancient Frankincense
trail and the historical background of the Sultanate through a number of archaeological
findings, and The Marine Hall, featuring displays about the development of Oman’s rich
marine history. A complete history of the Maritime trade & ship.
Visit the impressive Sultan Qaboos Mosque in central Salalah. Built in 2009 the mosque
welcomes thousands of worshippers. Stroll through the old Haffah souq, famous for the
sale of high-quality Frankincense & numerous other Dhofari traditional souvenirs. Return to
the hotel in the afternoon. Overnight stay at a hotel in Salalah.
